Interview
The
Questions to ask every School
Some schools will do a
phone interview, but most will want a face to face interview, so be
prepared for travel. These interviews are often just as much
informational meetings as traditional interviews. The decision to live
and work in Japan is not one to be made lightly, so be aware some companies
almost try to scare you away. They are just making sure that you are
committed and have thought the experience through.
During an interview,
always be professional, meaning dress for success. Men should wear a
suit and tie while women wear business attire like a business suit with
slakes or a conservative suit. Remember, Japanese are conservative by
nature, so do not do anything to flashy or crazy.
Before
you interview, review your grammar and
spelling, for many school will
present you with English grammar and spelling test during the interview
process. Be prepared, use the below web sites before you walk into
that interview since most of us can not remember the difference between the
present continuous and past perfect progressive verb tenses. Some of these
interview tests will be more than spelling and grammar. The test may
include questions about world capitals and word definitions.
Many private
schools will also want you to create a sample
lesson plan, which you may have to present to a small group of
fellow interviewees. Do not be alarmed or intimidated by presenting,
since most people who interview have no experience with teaching, just relax
have fun and smile.
